Bareback Riding Training to keep you from getting hurt!

Speaker A: All right, here we go. I’m going
to bring in my test dummies for the bareback riding, Garrett and Cooper. Let’s get rolling. Now that we showed you how to get off onto
the pick-up man, we’re going to go through a scenario as to where you come off the horse
away from your hand to where you’re going to be hung up. As we’re riding around here, my feet come
loose, something happens, you never know what’s going to happen. You’re going to get jerked
down away from your hand and your hand’s not going to come out. It’s going to be locked
into here. First, you want to reach up and grab hold with both hands. Double grab, get
your feet up, start jumping. Get your elbow over. Unhook or work on your hand, and then
when you let go, hit the ground and crawl to get away. But you want to hit the ground
and make sure that horse, if he kicks, you’re going to be underneath it. Speaker B: As you can see here, Dylan lost
his feet and got into a bad situation. He does a really good job by double-grabbing
and trying to get to his feet as the pick-up men are trying to help him. The best thing
about it is I haven’t heard him scream yet. Here, the pick-up men get the horse shut down,
get everything boxed in and slowed down so Dylan can get up over the horse and get his
hand out. Good job by the pick-up men to get things slowed down and shut off. Speaker A: Feet get behind you, come off away
from your hand. You’re hung up, double-grab. Get your feet. Come up, get your elbow over.
Good. Good. Pop out, hit the ground. Good job. That right there is something that’s
going to save kids from hanging up for laps and laps around the arena. A lot of kids don’t
know. And another thing, don’t scream. If you scream, the pick-up man’s horses won’t
ride in. They don’t know what’s going on. You’re just in a heck of a wreck. Now on this
right here, going through this stuff, that’s why we win.
