Knowlton Center for Equine Science This expansive facility houses both the Equine Science department and Otterbein’s nationally recognized Equestrian teams. Students are immersed in their own living labratory And have the opportunity to expand their passion for horses into a career in the ever-growing equine industry. At Otterbein, you can be an equestrian and a scholar. Equine majors at Otterbein are both academically challenging and designed to serve students. As a student, you have many options to tailor your experience. To reveal how your passion for horses can guide you to an interesting and competitive career. Besides being tremendously fulfilling work, the equine industry is a multi-billion dollar industry with vast career opportunities. Otterbein’s Equine Business Management major, offers an intensive horse-centered curriculum that is balanced by strong business preparation. In this area of study you will learn more about equine business practices, managing an equine facility, or find out how to create your own entrepreneurial opportunities. Or maybe you are interested in the veterinary world? With the Equine Pre-veterinary Medicine and Pre-graduate studies major you can learn about the internal systems of the horse while assisting in diagnostic and medical veterinary procedures. Otterbein proudly boasts high acceptance rates to graduate programs and our pre-veterinary degree has served as a foundation to veterinary school our accomplished alumni. Otterbein also offers a unique Equine Veterinary Technology Major. Helping create students adept in facilitating the good work done in a veterinary clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation centers or breeding facilities. Vet tech students are highly marketable and our graduates are sought after for this fast growing field of work. Sure, we know a lot about horses, but we can also ride. The nationally competitive equestrian teams proudly boasts top caliber instructors that are not only superior teachers but active competitors in their respective disciplines. Hunter/Jumpers, Eventing and dressage riders can all find a place here. Maybe your interests are a little more laid back or possibly you’re a beginner… we have a place for you in our equestrian program too. Otterbein welcomes all levels. Here you can ride with the best, on the best. Our horses are show horses. Otterbein has between 30 and 35 school horses that have been graciously donated to the university. They are our teachers, our friends, and our competition partners. From horses that have once competed at Rolex to school mastered dressage horses; and nationally recognized hunter/jumpers our school horse backgrounds are both impressive and diverse.
