Horse Care & Riding : How to Take Care of Your Horse’s Hooves

Taking proper care of your horse’s hooves,
is one of the most important overall pieces, of good horse care. Making sure that you pick
your horse’s hooves out daily, helps to monitor how your horse’s feet are doing. Also, making
sure that your farrier visits every six to eight weeks, is also extremely important,
to maintain healthy hooves. If you find, when picking your horse’s hooves, that there’s
an ugly smell, then it probably means that your horse has thrush, and this can be fixed
by just applying a basic thrush medication, to the soles of your horse’s hooves. If you
find that your horse’s hooves start to become brittle or dry,you can apply a basic conditioner,
to the outer part of the hoof. Just start at the cornet band ,work your way all around
the hoof, and all the way down, and just make sure you get every spot, and doing this daily,
is a great way to ensure healthy hooves.
