Horse Training for Equestrian Games : How to Compete in Equitation

To compete in equitation class, the first
thing you want to make sure of is that your horse is well groomed, clipped and their mane
is pulled. For all equitation classes, you don’t have to braid, although for the higher
level equitation classes, you should. As far as your tack goes, you have some flexibility
as to the bridle and the type of bit. You can have your basic nose band or you can have
a figure 8 or a flash. And snaffles are usually the most common bit. You should have just
a pretty basic hunt seat saddle, a nice girth, either leather or the fuzzy girth and a fitted
nice white pad. As for the rider, you should be well dressed with beige riding pants, tall
boots, a long sleeved riding shirt with a collar, a dark colored jacket, hair up in
a hairnet and a nice black velvet helmet.

  1. It isn't supposed to feel great! I don't know what the mane looks like so I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say work at it and do a little by little.
