HOW TO CLEAN YOUR RIDING BOOTS | Horses 101- Basics

Hello there YouTube, it’s Nikki Today I’m gonna show you how to turn… THIS (this dirty boot) into… something more like this! This is something that every equestrian should know how to do, and I know sometimes it might seem maybe, self explanitory but if you’re new to the equestrian world: here is a tutuorial on how to clean boots! As you can see, I have in front of me a few different things. I have this Lexol Leather Conditioner. It’s really good for bringing old stuff especially like my boots which are clearly VERY beaten up and dirty because I almost never clean these… um… and it’s really good at making the leather really shiny and , like, soft again. I also have here this Lexol just regular Lexol Leather Cleaner Uuh, it’s like, all pupose, and I find it’s really easy to use and it’s really good at cleanin’ off the dirt. I also have here with me a toothbrush, a tack sponge, and a clean towel. We have water here, to get your tack sponge nice and damp. So, I’m going to dip my tack sponge in the water and wring out as much of the water as I can so it’s just damp; damp enough not to damage your leather. Now I’m gonna just rub it all over to get the big clumps of dirt off. So now that you’ve gotten your boot relatively clean and free of chunks of dirt and stuff like that, it’s time now to use the leather cleaner. I would spray it just like, on the boot I don’t know if that’s right or not but I do it… and I’ll take the clean side of my, now very dirty, sponge and just kind of rub it all over and continue to get more dirt off. I’ll rub it up until it’s in a nice lather and make sure you get all of the crud out of your boots.. I know mine are like, beyond repair They’re VERY old. I have a replacement set that I’m gonna use as soon as I know that these are ABSOLUTELY dead. They’re pretty much getting there, they’re almost like, totally dead. There’s like dirt coming out of this hole *gasps* I don’t know if you could see that but It just rained dirt on my legs…😅 oh my god….😂 After I’ve finished cleaning this boot as best as I possibly can since it’s so destroyed now it’s time to use this Leather Conditioner So, I’m gonna use this… with a clean towel and I’m just gonna rub it, like, all over my boot. OoOoOoPpPpPs OoOhHh NoOoOoh! So right now what I’m doing with my toothbrush is I’m gonna dip it in the water which already has some leather cleaner in it I assume since I’ve been dipping my sponge in there and i’m gonna clean the sides of my boots. This isn’t generally necessary like, it’s not a necessity… but it DOES make you boots look a lot nicer and cleaner and shinier. And so now, THIS boot is looking oop I’ve gone and dropped it…okay is looking significantly better than this dirty boot. So yeah, that is how I clean and condition my beat up paddock boots! Thanks for watching guys! Bye!
