How to replace air cartridges in Point Two air vests

CORA: Hi, I’m Cora, and I work in IT. But as a former member of the Customer Care
Team, I know we get lots of questions about how to change the air cartridges
in our air vests. As an eventer, I have lots of experience changing
those cartridges, and today, I’m going to show you how to change the cartridge in a
Point Two air vest. This is everything that you will need to replace
the air cartridge for your vest. You have the vest itself, the lanyard, the saddle strap,
the user guide, and an air cartridge. Air cartridges are sold separately. You can buy them at SmartPak.com in a set
of three or individually. When you get your air vest, you’re going to
want to take your saddle strap and attach it to your saddle. You have two loops – one on either side – and
you’re going to put one loop through the stirrup bar on your saddle. Once you have both sides attached to your
stirrup bars, you’ll take the lanyard and attach it to your saddle strap. So when your vest deploys… (loud popping noise) …and you need to change your air cartridge,
here’s how you do it. The Point Two vests have their Allen wrench
nice and neatly tucked in right next to the air cartridge. You’ll unzip the air cartridge. And these you just slide over and pull out. You can tell this is a used cartridge by the
hole in the bottom. And this is what a new cartridge looks like. Once you remove the old cartridge, you want
to use your Allen wrench and you’re going to wind down the piston. This will just help loosen it up. From there, you can just screw it off with
your hand. And you want to bring the piston down so it’s
flush with the circle opening, so we can get the key ball back in there. And to help out, you can just use the Allen
wrench to push it right back down into place. You’ll put the screw back in, and I like to give
the bottom just one twist around to get that on, and you’ll take your key ball. And you’ll want to insert it right into the
hole. Take your Allen wrench and tighten this up. You know that it’s tight enough – there’s
an arrow and a little dot here, and you want those to get lined up so that way you know
that this bottom part is screwed back in tightly. You got your key ball nice and securely in
place. You’ll take your new cartridge. Put the bayonet in there. Twist it to the right. And you know it’s in correctly – there’s an
arrow, and that arrow should line up with that space between the air cartridge and the
bayonet. Finally, zip up the air cartridge holder,
and you are all set to go. Whether you’re an experienced eventer, trainer,
barn manager or parent, it’s extremely important to know how to change the air cartridge in
your vest. If you need replacements, visit us at SmartPak.com
