LINE 2019/2020 Sakana and Pescado Skis – Shaped Like Nothing Else

The Pescado turned out to be the best powder ski of all time. Amazing ski and it did everything I wanted it to do I was surprised by how well it rode on piste and I thought why is that? How do we make a more narrow version that’s even better on-piste So that was the jump-off for the Sakana. However, the Sakana is not just a more narrow Pescado The Sakana is meant to carve I didn’t make that ski for a consumer necessarily. I certainly was thinking I personally wanted that ski cause I knew it was slightly different and it would make really fun turns. And I knew the flex pattern and waist width, with that amount of sidecut was going to render a ski that is unique That’s the old Grandpa there, ya know he was a pilot and he flew this aircraft. This is kind of a special aircraft and I thought it would be rad to pay tribute to him someway and I love that basic silhouette of fighter planes in that era. So I mixed it with what looks like circuitry. What the circuit to me is the juxtaposition of old and new in particular with this one, if you think of Japan, it’s like a collision of old and new. It’s like futuristic and then at the same time old and steeped in tradition. I thought what better to like boil that down than a Pagoda shape and a circuit board. So I actually started with this concept then I got into this one, which is the plane I’m so into the real journey of creating skis that I want to ski and that’s a dream job for me
