Hi I’m Hollie. We’re at Lee Valley Riding
Centre and we’ve just finished a show jumping lesson. I live in the London Borough of Waltham
Forest and I’ve lived there thirteen years … fourteen years I think. So quite a long
time. There’s lots of nice parks, there’s Lloyd Park. The borough’s- it’s OK. It’s
got crime like everywhere else but… The borough is a lot cleaner than it used
to be. It’s busier- there are a lot more things going on. When you get the Waltham
Forest paper sent through it says this is going on that is going on. So there are a
lot more things to keep younger people occupied. Which is very good.
I have been working here about two and a half years. I love the horses. I love the horses
to bits. I enjoy being with the people I work with. The training aspect is brilliant. I
love the riding and also the theory part of it all. I’ve probably got another two exams
left and then I will be finished. I will be what’s called an AI-Assistant Instructor.
And then I can go and teach people- not necessarily at a riding school- but I can freelance somewhere
else, and teach everybody else. And I would be insured for that. Formal qualifications…
it’s brilliant! I’ve got tickets to go to see the dressage
final. Woo Hoo! So I’m very excited about that. With equestrianism it’s opening the
World’s eyes to a sport you don’t really get to see- especially in London. You don’t
really hear very many people talk about horse riding- it’s never on the telly or anything
like that. So for our sport it’s going to be amazing I think.
