Ronan’s Melt Down – Dad Style! | Magic Breakfast

Ronan: I remember one time, Jack who is now
19, my boy… I had decided that I was bringing him… I was in South Africa on tour… I
had decided I was bringing him to see the penguins, right? In South Africa there’s a
place where you can the penguins. Harriet: I know. I think it’s called Hout
Bay. Ronan: Hout Bay, yes. So I drove two hours
to get there. I get there, he’s throwing a little bit of a strop. We’re walking down
towards the penguins, so it’s a two or three minute walk down on the sand. You can’t see
them yet, you can hear them. Walking down and he’s getting out of control. He’s getting
worse and worse and we are like ten feet from coming around the corner and seeing the penguins. I’ve had enough. I pick him up and I say “That’s it. We are going home.” And I walk back to the car and we drive back
to the hotel in Cape Town, after driving two hours. Harriet: No you didn’t? Ronan: I did it. And I was in the car thinking
“What have I done? Have I taken it a step too far?” He’s so young that I don’t even
know if he realises what’s just happened! I’m the one who misses out! I miss out, I
didn’t get to see the penguins.
