Throwing a Gay Pride Roller Disco Party

– Hi everyone! It’s Tyler, and to celebrate the end of “Chosen Family” Season
Two, I decided to invite all of you guys to come do
my favorite thing of all time while being gay, and
that is rollerskating. Me and my queer friends always come here for Gay Night, and it is the best night of just not caring and
celebrating who we are and just having fun. So, I invited JSAs from
all over California to come over and be yourselves with me. (upbeat intro music) ♪ Oh, oh ♪ ♪ You gotta listen up, listen up ♪ ♪ There’s not a thing that

favorite outfit of the night. Head to toe, killing
it with rainbow pride. We did the best lap. – Yes. – [Tyler] How many times
did I make you fall? – [Girl] Not that many times! – A few times we fell.
– A few times. – Tonight’s all about safe
spaces for queer people and high schoolers and their allies. – Yeah. – Why is it important to
you to have a safe space? – As someone who has been
discriminated against for being part of the LGBT community, I think having a safe
space is really important because it’s a place where anyone can feel accepted, really and…
– Yeah. – They feel like they have
a family and, you know, people who love them.
– Of course! Family! – Aw, thank you!
– So thank you for being here. (upbeat music) I’m here with Sean and Lily. Y’all having fun? – Yes, definitely.
– Yeah. – Who’s worse at skating? Why is it important to you
guys to have a safe space? – I feel like it’s important because in our certain political
climate, there’s a lot of negativity towards our community. – Totally. – And so for especially
you to have a place where they can just
relax and be themselves is really important. – I feel like I also
have to admit something. I hope this is okay to say. Your makeup? Iconic, in every way. It shines. When I’m on the other side of the rink, I say, “Oh, work!” Yes! Absolutely! It’s cute, thank you for being here. (screams) – Thank you for- ♪ Listen to your heart

that we have at school that we started called
“Gay, Lesbian, or Whatever.” – “Gay, Lesbian, or Whatever.” That’s iconic. Why is it important to have something like GLOW at your school? – It’s important to us because in a place where being
gay isn’t as prominent, it’s important to have
people of every spectrum just come together and talk about things comfortably in a comfortable room, without any judgment or any discrimination at all.
– I love. I love that. (upbeat music) – Hi friends, my favorite thing to do with all of my queers is to come here with my friends. Especially in a world where being LGBTQ+ can sometimes feel like other people don’t think it’s quite okay, I want LGBTQ+ people to know
that not only is it okay, it’s kinda like the
best thing in the world. (cheering) If I could do one last
thing, I would ask you guys to take the love and the happiness and the unafraid joy of being yourself that we’re doing tonight, and take it
back to wherever you are. Bring this room of acceptance
