LOOKBOOK Warm clothes at the barn Hello, thank you for watching this video at the Youtube Channel of Epplejeck My name is Manon and today we’re going to this a little bit different You might already see this by my setting. I am not at the stable and not in the store I am gonna show you what I wear when I am at the stable and when it’s cold Like how it is right now So if you are curious, keep watching! Like I just said I am gonna do this a bit differently. I am gonna show you what I like to wear to the stables in when it’s cold And I’ve made it with a lookbook kinda vibe It’s also new for me, so I hope you like it So, yeah, let me know if you also like these videos Apollo is at a stable close to home, but there is no Indoor arena. His stable is inside of course But furthermore everything is happening outside Lunging, riding is outside. Wo when it’s cold it’s a must to dress as warm as possible, because it’s really cold while riding We can’t do things inside. Well yeah, brushing is a possibility. But the rest is outside There are a few things I always do. The first thing is: layering I learnt that layering is better/ warmer than one hoodie Because there is air between layers of clothes and the air gets warmer. Causing yourself to get warmer faster Second, if you get hot while horseriding you will be able to take something off Because if you wear just one hoodie and you take off that one you’ll get cold again really fast If you wear layers you won’t get cold so fast And mostly I wear a shirt or top, on top of that a hoodie and then a coat And when it’s super cold I will wear a top, a shirt, a hoodie and a coat I am wearing four layers then A sweater which I wear more and more often these days is this one: Ariat Sonar This is a black hoodie- wait’s it not a hoodie, cus it doesn’t have a hood It is a sweater with a half short zipper And the silver you see right here is reflecting. It’s also on the sleeves are little dots which also reflects It’s very safe if you are riding outside when it’s dark Just a bit more safety This sweater is special, because it’s light-weight fabric. Ariat is known for its fabrics being warm This sweater is from a special “cold serie” collection And the fabric is excellent with moist wicking If you are sweating this fabric will easily get rid of the moist, so you won’t get all wet. This makes for you to keep as warm as possible Such things is Ariat known for The inside is soft, fleece like, and the outside is smooth. It has a lot of stretch It’s also wind proof. So it’s not just moist wicking that keeps you warm. It is windproof too So like I said. When you wear layers and you wont to get rid of them. This one is really nice to ride with Because it’s wind proof. So you won’t get really cold in this The name is Ariat Sonar In this video I wear a super special riding breeches Well super special… It’s new for me! I’ve never worn it before. These breeches, you won’t say at first sight, is made from softshell fabric Softshell is popular by multiple reasons: One of them is being waterproof, wind proof, super hot. These pants are fully lined with fleece You don’t know what happens when you put them on *giggles* It’s is really warm The breeches contains lots of stretch material what made it fit really nicely the brand is: Epplejeck When i was trying to put it on. I olny got the outside layer what causes the breeches not coming on that easy. If you get what I am saying So when putting it on is sometimes troublesome, but when you are wearing them- I am sorry I am having the hiccups That the breeches are flexible. It has an imitation leather seat. And it’s amazing that it is water repellent, windproof and just nicely warm So this is the ideal breeches when you are at the stable or only have an outside arena just like me! Like you are able to see at the stable I like to wear normal outdoor boots. The boots most of you know They’re really warm, a bit lumbering maybe. They’re waterproof. I have to walk at the stable often through mud, so the boots are perfect! You are also able to see that I have these for a really long time They’re worn down. It’s a sign that I wear them often and are happy with them When I get at the barn I start with the chores I muck out the stables, getting ready to feed, cleaning and after I have done it all I going to Apollo Or when he is already at the stable putting hem in the hallway But after it all I am going to take care of Apollo When I am doing all the chores I love to wear the outdoor boots, but – i think you recognize it- at the stable it’s cold and no heater. So when you put on your riding boots they are really cold. You start to get cold feet and first things first: you have to go to the outside arena And that’s cold too So when I have done all the chores and the only thing left is to brush or saddle up Apollo I already put on my riding boots So before brushing I put on my riding boots. The boots are still cold. But when I move and walking, which I am doing a lot while brushing, I am getting warm myself What makes my feet getting warmer too This won’t be a ground-breaking tip, but for the people who have not thought about this yet. I put on my boots when taking care of my horse, so they don’t get dirty because I wont have to walk through mud again My boots will get warmer by the time I have to ride. So when I buckling up I won’t have cold feet cus my boots are so intensely cold In this video I am wearing the Lou Epplejeck riding boots In the video I wear them with black laces, but by coincidence they have blue laces while I am filming So yeah, I always put them on on time! The jacket I am wearing in this video is the Ariat Volt I have it right here in my hands At first I had to get used to the fact that it is such a thin jacket It weights barely anything So I kept thinking: this must be pretty cold I already worn it a few times. So I went to the barn and when I put it on I thought: Oh! Cold! Thin jacket. It’s water- and wind proof. I got the conclusion that the moment I started moving, like walking, the jacket got really warm and stayed warm Like really! As soon as I put it on at home I thought it would be really cold and the moment I started walking and mucking out stables the jacket got really warm and stayed warm That’s really nice. I have a thick winter coat also, but I’d rather wear this one. A thick coat is nice because it’s warm instantly. The moment you get on your horse you will look like this Michelin guy Because the coat is thick and the size of it. I have a bomberjacket. And of course that isn’t the worst, but this fits more nicely Because it fits perfect around the entire body So I am wearing this jacket more and more often There’s a lot of stretch fabric. By the sleeves and at the side is a fleece and lined. What makes it stretchable. A sweater fits under it easily This jacket has the same things as the sweater I showed you. It transports sweat, etc. It’s what Ariat is known for. It’s a bit more expensive brand, I know. But you’ll get good technical fabrics; a thin light-weight jacket which is mega warm. It keeps you warm, it keeps you dry What I like, and never really thought about till I discovered and can’t live without anymore, is elastic at the end of the sleeves The sleeve looks normal, but the inside contains this little elastic which makes it even more wind proof. And that’s really “chill” Never thought about needing something like that in my life What makes the jacket so special? It’s super thin, really warm, Primaloft isolation, I had to Google the term ‘Primaloft isolation” I admit It’s a an isolation material which they use in clothes. It’s being used for extreme sport clothes, like climbing snowy mountains Those kind of lunatics I am sorry, no offense But if you do those kind of things, you’ll wear clothes with Primaloft isolation And it’s really warm and a super special kind of fabric And i am reaaaaallllyyy happy with it! I have learnt that you’ll lose the most of your body heat with your head. Like it leaves it there, you get it? Your body is letting go a lot of heat through your head and that’s why it’s super important to keep your head warm It really makes a difference. It will keep lot of the heat. A simple solution is wearing a cap I am wearing this cap. The brand is Springstar. It’s new at Epplejeck. This season they have all these cute warm items like scarfs, caps, saddle pads. But mostly these kinds of things. What I like about this cap is- except the colour and this funny looking star- that it’s fully lined with fleece awgh, it’s so nice And when I am done riding I often have wet hair caused by sweating. If you have wet hair and it’s cold outside you’ll get cold even faster Then this is amazing! Due to the lining the cap is wind proof The outside is knitted. Without any lining you would feel the air. A cute pom pom at the top This shawl is from Sprinstar too it has kind of the same colour It has a touch of glitter And even this one is fully lined. This lace is on the upperside and if you pull it you will get more clsoure in your neck The benefit of a shawl is you can keep it on while riding. A normal scarf can be dangerous. There is a possibility that i will come off or flutter everywhere. The horse is able to get afraid of it The shawl is just around your neck and because of the straw it’s pretty tight and firm If you’re looking chill, warm items with lining, you have to check out Springstar They have really nice things! If i am doing the chores at the stable I am wearing gloves Cus I get cold hands really fast i get some old pair gloves, fleece or- doesn’t matter as long as they are thick and warm And easy to wash But while riding I like to have gloves with a bit more of a grip If you where smooth gloves the change of losing the ropes is big And that isn’t “chill” Right now I have these Epplejeck winter riding gloves. The upper side is from Neoprene. Neoprene is wind proof and nicely warm The handpalm has a pattern made of silicone: anti-slip The upper side is warm and wind proof and the handpalm is really thin what makes more contact with the ropes These are really nice winter gloves If there’s a lot of wind and you want to ride in the outside arena. We are already fully dressed What did I show you? Waterproof breeches, warm sweater, warm jacket, already warm boots. You can also wear some thick socks Shawl, trendy gloves and a cap! But the sides of your head and ears will still catch a lot of wind They made something fot that problem too! These ear warmers! It looks maybe a kind of strange I had to get used to it if I am totally honest. it is really warm The inside has faux fur And the outside is made of Neoprene. Still wind proof. It’s really simple. You open it with Velcro at the side of your cap and then is the side of your head also protected Can it be more simple? It’s really smart tho So for those who get painfully cold ears this is a really good solution! And if it rains hard and I do want to take out Apollo. Of course I have a something for the rain for him too! It is this exercise sheet with zebra pattern from Epplejeck Obviously there is a variety of colours and prints. But i thought this one would be nice! This exercise sheet is the same as any other rain rug, so it’s waterproof. The back of your horse, where the important organs are, protected He stays dry. It’s perfect if you don’t want your horse to be all drained of the rain Or when he is shaved and he get’s cold fast If you are riding in the rain you won’t have any use to a fleece exercise sheet. That’s why I show you this waterproof exercise sheet! Which is perfect to use! And last for all “die hards” among us: rainlegs! Maybe you are already familiar with them and maybe not. This is a sort of rain trouser, but not really You can just put them around your legs The benefit of- rain trousers you know them. It is extremely waterproof. The breeches I just showed is more water repellent So if it storms your leg will get a bit wet It is a riding breeches, it is a flexible fabric. It’s not made as a rain trousers, as these You would be able to just put some rain trousers on top of your riding breeches. Maybe the one you have laying in the closet The loss is that the fabric is really smooth and it won’t be really comfortable while riding You will start slipping and sliding in the saddle Rain trousers are really warm and is not breathable at all, because it’s 100% waterproof if you are wearing the entire rain trousers you will get sweaty legs, no secret That’s not “chill” They’ve invented the rainlegs because of this problem. It’s only on the front, upperside of the legs. You will wear it like an apron. The first strap is going behind your back. The two leg straps just above your knee and around the hip The strap above the knee is fastened with Velcro The strap at the hip is fastened with a clip The clip will be on the outside of the thigh You won’t sit on the clip than. They have thought this out! The benefit is the water will slide off the pants, your legs won’t be soaked, your underwear wont be wet I think we’ve been all through these times, at least I did You will prevent all that with these rainlegs! The way it’s strapped you would be able to put on and put off the rain legs still sitting on your horse If you find yourself by surprise riding in the pouring rain you can put them on. If the sky clears up you can easily get them off You don’t have to leave your horse for it! The fabric is reflecting and if you look closely you will see a small touch of glitter So it’s super safe if you want to cross the street with them This model rainlegs which reflects is just in stock. It’s handy in my opinion. And no doubt it’s warm because it’s 100% waterproof and doesn’t breath. But the side of your leg is not covered This will make that some frech air does reach your legs really handy those rainlegs! And that’s it! What I wear when it’s getting colder and I still want to ride Apollo in the outside arena! I hope you enjoyed! If you have any golden tips? What do you wear? Or something that is super clever!
