Xtreme Ice Skating – Unity Stop variation (tutorial)

The biggest thing you have to have under your
control before even trying the variation is: see how my arms are straight forward to backward? This is what will guide your energy. If you’re
moving forward and and now you’re stopping forward, well your arms have to be in that same direction. Otherwise your body will wobble. If your arms are sideways, your energy will
be disrupted sideways. And you need to have this proper balance before
you’re able to do the variation. Okay, last tip: What really helps the most, is if you, shift
your head like this… You shift your shoulders. So when you make that turn, shift your head
and your shoulders into the direction you want to turn. I will show you. So here this directional energy is being explained. As I gather my balance here on the ice. One foot is behind. Now you see how I am shifting
my shoulders? This will shift your directional turn because
– – see, the energy is forward, but when you make that
turn with your upper body, you’re shifting your balance. So the energy, instead of going forward is
now gonna’ (going to) follow where your upper body is. And that’s how this variation will work. And that’s how you guide tha variation. And one final note is that you can try different
positions with your arms. You can notice that in the video, in the “Skater’s Perspective” (video), my
arms were different. So see what works for you.
